The Constable’s Office is located in the Jefferson Parish General Government Center located at 200 Derbigny Street, Suite 2100,  in The Historic Downtown Business District of Gretna, Louisiana. The First Justice Court’s territorial jurisdiction encompasses The City of Gretna, Unincorporated Gretna and Harvey East of the Harvey Canal.

Constable Liberto and his Deputies are charged with the serving writs, subpoena’s and court order evictions and make civil law arrests anywhere within First Justice Court’s territory. The Office is also charged with making arrests for misdemeanors anywhere within Jefferson Parish and for felonies anywhere within Louisiana.

Our office is responsible for enforcing the judgments of First Justice Court, which include tenant evictions and small claims matters. Having your matter resolved in First Justice Court will result in lower costs, less time, and a simpler process than the trial court system. The claim cannot exceed $5000.00

The Constable and his office is extremely pro-active in the district to which it serves.  The department participates in the Night Out Against Crime, Holloween patrols, Terrytown Festival, Christ the King Fair to name a few.

The department also assists the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Gretna Police Department with felon stops, burglaries in progress as well as assisting with traffic stops.  Furthermore, we also assist the local fire departments and EMS with their calls for service.
